Glass Forest
A grove of stained glass trees, each one rooted in a reclaimed wooden spool — old thread spools, spindles, and turned wood fragments rescued and repurposed as trunks.
The Story
Old wooden spools from mills and sewing rooms have a warmth and history that modern plastic can't replicate. When the artist started collecting them, she knew they were trunks. She just had to grow the trees.
Each tree is a scrap shard of stained glass — no two quite the same shape or size. The glass is set into a slot in the spool top, so each tree stands freely on its recycled wood base.
These look beautiful individually on a windowsill, and stunning gathered into a forest on a mantle or shelf. Reclaimed Lotus makes them in small batches; sizes and tones vary. They make wonderful gifts and are especially popular around the holidays — though the artist maintains they're year-round trees.
